“In Pursuit of The Kingdom” – Pt. 3
Parables are not just or simply stories. They are the way we use stories to illustrate truth. The parables are critical elements concerning how the Kingdom operates and is established. This particular parable reveals HOW the Kingdom is established and WHERE the kingdom is established. HOW – Through the word! WHERE – In the heart, mind, conscious of men and women.
- The word of God is the ONLY thing strong enough to STOP the curse and the struggle.
- Every battle is played out in the mind.
The unfortunate and sad reality is that not every teaching effort has a positive effect. Opposition to effective hearing is certain.
- A closed mind (hard soil) is opposition.
- A carnal mind is opposition – (Rom 8:6 to be carnally minded is enmity (shallow soil)
- And a corrupt mind (weed laden soil) is opposition.
- It is the consecrated mind (good soil) that receives the word of The Lord.
There is a prescribed effective way of preparing to receive and receiving Gods word.
Be careful therefore how you listen. For to him who has [spiritual knowledge] will more be given; and from him who does not have [spiritual knowledge], even what he thinks and guesses and supposes that he has will be taken away. (Luke 8:18 AMP)
Relevant Question – What makes for good ground!? A consecrated mind!?
The mind must be prepared to receive the word – Prepare the soil (mind) Prov. 16:1 ; the hardened unprepared mind or heart does not hear from God or heed to God. Ex 7 ; 8 ; 9
Prepare the mind and heart through worship and prayer. Worship pulls up! Prayer pulls down. Together they create an atmosphere ripe for the planting of the word.
THE PLANS of the mind and orderly thinking belong to man, but from the Lord comes the [wise] answer of the tongue. (Proverbs 16:1 AMP)
How do we consecrate our minds:?
- Purge the vines (mind) – 2 Cor. 3:14 ; attitude of willingness and desire to be corrected, instructed, better, teachable and closer to God and His purposes must prevail Mark 7:6-13 *some traditions to give up.
In fact, their minds were grown hard and calloused [they had become dull and had lost the power of understanding]; for until this present day, when the Old Testament (the old covenant) is being read, that same veil still lies [on their hearts], not being lifted [to reveal] that in Christ it is made void and done away. (2 Corinthians 3:14 AMP)
*Attitude! Whenever you think the message is not for you (I’ll stay home during the marriage series, I’m not married) check your attitude! Not learning, check your attitude! (The preacher is boring, I can’t listen to preacher who only lecture, or who whoop) Know more than the preacher!? Check your attitude. (Preaching is a supernatural event! I have a friend who stutters profusely, except when he preaches! Intellect and articulation certainly help. Yet, preaching is Gods business! He mind send a word to you to send it through you.
A Consecrated Mind is good ground.
So get rid of all uncleanness and the rampant outgrowth of wickedness, and in a humble (gentle, modest) spirit receive and welcome the Word which implanted and rooted [in your hearts] contains the power to save your souls. (James 1:21 AMP)
The ultimate aim of every believer ought to be fruitfulness. A closed mind, a carnal mind and a corrupt mind hinder being fruitful in the things of God.
The potential to be fruitful is not hindered by God’s will, but rather the believers own voluntary perverseness and unawareness of the efforts of the enemy to hinder the effect of the word.
The enemy is ever on a mission to do maintenance on the unregenerated parts of the believer. All he needs is a little space in your heart, just a “piece” of your mind to ferment the rest! A little leaven (closed mindedness, carnality, corruptness, simple mindless, foolishness) goes along way
Corrupt Mind v. 22 ; cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches ; result in the word being choked out crowded out by selfish ambition and the quest for ungodly gain ; status, acceptance, substance, gain, fame, recognition and the word becomes unfruitful.
As for what was sown among thorns, this is he who hears the Word, but the cares of the world and the pleasure and delight and glamour and deceitfulness of riches choke and suffocate the Word, and it yields no fruit. (Matthew 13:22 AMP)
What does the corrupt mind look like!? It is;
A. Distracted – Cares of the world, and the pleasure and delight and glamour… / Luke 9:25
For what does it profit a man, if he gains the whole world and ruins or forfeits (loses) himself? (Luke 9:25 AMP)
B. Discouraged – and Deceitfulness of riches *where is mine!?
But Zion [Jerusalem, her people as seen in captivity] said, The Lord has forsaken me, and my Lord has forgotten me. [And the Lord answered] Can a woman forget her nursing child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? Yes, they may forget, yet I will not forget you. Behold, I have indelibly imprinted (tattooed a picture of) you on the palm of each of My hands; [O Zion] your walls are continually before Me. (Isaiah 49:14-16 AMP)
Sometimes less is more, better and greater than much!
- One handful of peaceful repose is better than two fistfuls of worried work— More spitting into the wind. (Ecclesiastes 4:6 MSG)
*Jim Carry – “I hope everybody could get rich and famous and have everything they ever dreamed of, so they will know that it’s not the answer”
Riches without righteousness will always result in exploitation and devastation!
C. Disabled – a corrupt mind disables the assignment of the word. Preventing the word from gaining strength over the believer.
The consecrated mind is the only sure way to maximize the power of the word.
